- C. maenas has a planktontic zoea stage, for by a planktontic megalopae stage and a bentic juvinle/adult stage (Ref: ADW)
- Migrates yearly to deeper waters for spawning; copulation is directly after moulting; females carry eggs for several months (Ref: ADW)
