Discussion
- fish base says that females mature after 3 years and males after 2. However there is no reference to back this up. DaviKlemm2014 observed that rapid egg growth occured after 20 months post hatch, so we assume that this coincided with puberty
- mod_4: previous versions included weight and respiration as function of time for two extreme phenotypic families (large and small size and maturity respectively), from McKenPed2007. These families have different parameters and might be used to make specific entries for those families.
- mod_5: removed the length-weight relationship that was compiled from four studies. Included starvation data.
- mod_5: we assume that during starvation structure is degraded to cover somatic maintance
Facts
- Many subspecies exist, e.g. O. m. irideus (coastal rainbow trout), O. m. gairdneri (Columbia River redband trout) (Ref: Wiki)
- Best culturing temp 15-16 C (Ref: YaniHisa2002)
- Able to spawn several times, each time separated by months (Ref: Wiki)
